Using Architectural Louvers And Other Key Elements To Make A Home Unique

By Essie Osborn

Every home is built following strict rules and regulations put in place by a government, be it federal, state or municipal. All these rules and regulations are to protect the building from damage, and especially ensure the residents are safe. Below, see what architectural louvers bring to buildings.

By definition, these louvers provide the benefit of admitting light and air, but keeping out rain, direct sunshine and noise. They are actually blinds or shutters with angled horizontal slats designed to do the above. As they are architectural in their nature, they also provide beauty, in addition to function and purpose.

When the home is healthy, its residents are healthy as well. For that to happen, the residents need air circulation as well as light, without allowing any harmful effects to come their way. Water is one of the biggest problems for any structure, and these help to keep it out. However, direct sunlight can make living very uncomfortable, in many ways. So as they serve their purpose, they are also designed in a way to enhance a structure's appearance.

When they are addressed as architectural, they also mean they look great. Having said that, it is imperative for a home to look appealing, and this happens through careful planning and a keen eye for detail. If it wasn't so, most buildings or homes would look quite identical, and no one wants that. Such a world would be uninteresting, bland, and downright boring.

However, with a unique design, it adds interest not only to the structure, but to an entire neighborhood. It will also make it stand out exceptionally, and with pride. In modern building methods, often for cost-cutting efforts, architects and buildings create similar homes with minor differences. That makes an entire neighborhood lack individuality and leaves it up to the owners to make the noticeable difference, and often, with affordability.

Sometimes, it can be as easy as painting the entrance door a bold and interesting color. The majority of such homes are built with white aluminum doors, typically all designed the same way. A bold color will make the statement. The same is true of a beautiful wrought iron gate that leads to the backyard. Basically, it's about adding curb appeal.

There are lots of ways to enhance a structure interestingly. Lighting is yet another fabulous option because light fixtures, like lampposts are visible in the day, adding a design element, and by night, they light up the structure in a unique way. Choose from sconces, recessed lights in eaves-troughs, uplights under trees, and the like. There is no end to how lighting can change and improve a structure round the clock. It's a strong design element that is often, and unfortunately, underestimated and neglected by many.

What's more is that there are endless ways and ideas to give a home an identification. It should of course, be one that is in keeping with the taste and personality of its residents, however. With regards to louvers, they come in numerous designs, shapes, sizes and even colors to customize a look and ensure it is also in keeping with the architectural design of the structure itself. This last point is vital in order to keep it looking its best.
