A first impression is usually what makes people remember you and thus it is important that you make a good one. To leave a good impression however doesn't mean you have to show off. There will be a lot of approaches to leaving a good first impression which include tactics like being funny, awkward, smarty and anything else just as long as it is constructive or positive.

Give your name or nickname

At the moment you will be introduced to your colleagues, be sure to leave your name and if not your nickname. Not only is giving your name a good gesture of sincerity and friendliness but can also help other people remember you. Now if you have a lengthy name or your name may not sound very good or may sound funny, you can simply use a short nickname. Try to keep it short and if possible catchy or easy to remember.

Dine or lunch out with colleagues

If possible, you should always go with colleagues for lunch whenever invited. Among those few moments at work when you can socialize is during lunch breaks as well as coffee breaks. Thus whenever you are not too busy, be sure to go with colleagues whenever you are invited for a lunch out. With this, you can show your desire to get to know other people as well as show that you are friendly and approachable.

Open up to others

Being friends is also about sharing your thoughts and opinions. Therefore, if you want people to like you or be friends with you, you will need to be open to them and let them think what̢۪s on your mind. If you have the right conversation, tell them of what you like or dislike, hobbies, past experiences at work and others.
