Benefits Of Sewage Treatment Process

By Joshua Perry

Water is life and its beyond any reasonable doubt that water is one of the most crucial component in our lives, without water life can not be easy. So any efforts to treat the sewage water and re-cycling it back for re-use is very important. This is where sewage treatment process comes in.

Most of the waters we use in our homesteads can be of great benefit to our lives if only its well treated. One of the key benefits of treating water is to ensure that the water can be recycled back for other uses. And by so doing the water shortages are reduced by 99%. Treating water helps curb the crisis of water shortages which are bound to occur during dry spells.

After the solids have been fully separated the waste water is then put in massive settlement tanks. At the tanks bottom is a big scrapper which is mainly used to scrape the floor in order to bring the sludge to the center of the tank to allow it to be pumped for further treatment. In this stage the waste water is treated primarily, thus the primary treatment stage.

After the primary stage is the secondary stage water treatment procedure. At this stage big regular tanks are used. The importance of this stage is to ensure that any sludge that might have escaped during the primary stage has been removed.

Another benefit of the exercise is that, it helps in keeping the environment clean. Before sewage treatment systems were introduced, the cesspools and septic tanks were used to discharge waste; this posed a lot environmental risks especially to the areas where the waste water was being discharged. This increased the rate of pollution on the environment thus posing a lot of healthy risks to human life and the ecosystem as whole. The move has contributed a lot in preserving the environment naturally.

During the treatment process, the odor can be a nuisance to the environment. This is because its very difficult to control the bad smell emanating from the sewage. The situation worsens when certain chemicals are used to treat the waste. This leads to increased pollution of the environment.

Apart from reducing the acidity of water, the purification process is used to remove hardness in water by making it soft and safe or human use. During laundry when soft water is used less detergent and soap is used. This on the other hand reduces the cost compared to when hard water is used.

For people to enjoy all the benefits associated with sewage treatment, all the precautions and steps must be well followed to ensure that waste water has been well treated. This is to ensure that all the negative effects associated with improper treatment have been reduced and also to prevent the situation from getting out of control.
