Top Reasons To Join The Military

When a person tells his family that he wants to join the army, it is not a guarantee that he will get support from all members. This is due to the fact that most people think of death when the army is mentioned because they have seen many soldiers perish in wars. However, we cannot prevent people to join this career as the reasons to the join military are numerous. It is not all gloom in the forces.

One of the reasons is patriotism. Loyalty to a country can make a person get into the military. Such a person always sees the need to defend his country at times of war and also serve the country. This can be a deep calling for one or to keep family tradition. Whichever the cause the individual will experience solidarity and sense of community something he may never have experienced as a civilian.

The other reason is money. Military people usually receive a good paycheck at the end of every month. Apart from this, they also have other financial benefits such as free meals and housing, housing allowance for those living off base, retirement package after one leaves the army, bonuses and many other benefits. This aspect in itself attracts many people to this profession.

Yet another motive for joining the army is for education purposes. With the high tuition costs brought about by inflation, education has become something for the rich. Even though scholarships and assistantship programs are available to help the needy, not all people qualify for them. But when one joins the forces, he or she can realize his dream of having a college degree as he will receive tuition assistance covering all the tuition and fees.

Other than education, another motive is to gain the health care benefits. Medical care can be a challenge for a normal civilian. But in the army, soldiers receive the best of medical and dental care. Their families also benefit a lot from such benefits. There is also group life insurance which soldiers and their spouses and children are entitled to.

Gaining work experience is yet another cause for a person to get into the forces. They usually get in for one or two terms in order to boost their resumes. With such an experience, the chances of an individual to get a job are increased as employers considered such people to be full of work ethics and are more likely to hire a person.

Other than experience, some people join because of job security. In this field, the chances of a person being laid off or fired are small except for those who commit crimes in the course of their work. This aspect therefore attracts numerous individuals. There are also those people who love to travel and in this career there is usually a lot of traveling and visiting various places.

The reasons to join the military are numerous. This article just provides the few known motives as others have other personal reasons to join the forces. Whichever the motive, being a soldier may make a person have focus in his or her life and also serve his country.
